Situation

Attempting to find a solution for a way to express one’s personality digitally through type. Through research and analysis, the most suitable solution came to be transferring or recreating handwriting into a typeface. The amount of personality that handwriting carries and the emotion that it evokes makes it the natural solution to the problem of expressing personality through type.

Approach

Through a careful study of typography and script typefaces and their nuances, came a monoline script typeface based on my own handwriting. In addition the usage of ligatures became a vital part of the typeface design. as the connection between glyphs drastically improved a digital expression’s natural look.

Outcome

In studying the graphology came a deeper understanding of myself and a typeface with over 230 glyphs. A complex ligature code system that allows for the typeface to feel fluid and natural. And the ability to use my own handwriting in digital designs.
